Getting people to notice the little things when visiting Disney.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comBlogger23125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6852788167081037440.post-12633966411484693342011-05-03T10:22:00.000+01:002011-05-03T10:22:40.490+01:00One if by land, Two if by seaIt's been a while since I've posted, so lets get on with another great Detail in Disney!<br />
<br />
Today we are heading over to Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom for a great little detail that you will have to look up for.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tCNp4_2pMf0/Tb_GNVVYs9I/AAAAAAAAALQ/BtShGGzh22M/s1600/liberty-square-picture-044.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240px" j8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tCNp4_2pMf0/Tb_GNVVYs9I/AAAAAAAAALQ/BtShGGzh22M/s320/liberty-square-picture-044.jpg" width="320px" /></a></div><a name='more'></a><br />
On the second floor window on the side of the Hall Of Presidents, facing towards the Haunted Mansion there is a great detail but only if you look up. <br />
If you look up to this window you will see the lanterns of Paul Revere as descibed in the famous line "One if by land, Two if by sea". <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fiBS6W6srKw/Tb_GRSQgHRI/AAAAAAAAALU/grh7E66YobY/s1600/Paul_Revere.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="365px" j8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fiBS6W6srKw/Tb_GRSQgHRI/AAAAAAAAALU/grh7E66YobY/s400/Paul_Revere.jpg" width="400px" /></a></div><br />
At night these lanterns glow making them easier to notice. This is a great detail and like most of them, they dont have to put them there but when we find anything like this we are glad they do.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6852788167081037440.post-77233982115312722402011-03-28T11:10:00.000+01:002011-03-28T11:10:46.989+01:00The Family AlbumWhen I stayed at the world last October it was my first stay using DVC. We managed to get a place at Disney's Old Key West Resort, I was nervous as OKW wasn't on one of my favourites to stay at. But boy was I wrong! This resort is the most amazing place I have stayed at, there's so much charm about the place.<br />
<br />
There are obviously lots of details at OKW but this is a more special one that I am going to show you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-M0dm7h7RI00/TZBcQOq651I/AAAAAAAAALI/F6wUvYiB5-g/s1600/OldkeywestLogo.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" r6="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-M0dm7h7RI00/TZBcQOq651I/AAAAAAAAALI/F6wUvYiB5-g/s320/OldkeywestLogo.png" width="320" /></a></div><a name='more'></a><br />
One of the days on my holiday I decided to explore the resort, and what I came across was something I have never seen before. I am proud to say I am a member of the Disney Vacation Club and this detail astounded me. <br />
I was going to use the telephone, when I just stopped and stared in amazement at the wall. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JrY8kP6mEh8/TZBcVB7D9II/AAAAAAAAALM/qyQnwG0qpwA/s1600/12_Olivias_Cafe_members_pictures.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" r6="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JrY8kP6mEh8/TZBcVB7D9II/AAAAAAAAALM/qyQnwG0qpwA/s400/12_Olivias_Cafe_members_pictures.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left">This is the Old Key West DVC family album. It has tons of photos in frames of various DVC members from years past. It's fun to take a look at the photos and see other family's enjoying their vacations. This is a very special thing that i have not seen anywhere else on property. Imagine having your photo in a Disney Resort!</div><div align="left"><br />
</div><div align="left">Next time you are at a Disney Resort, take the time to explore your surroundings! You never know what you might come across.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6852788167081037440.post-49313904926500976842011-03-14T12:49:00.000+00:002011-03-14T12:49:59.398+00:00Gator AidSorry for the lack of updates on the blog. I have been really concentrating on my blog for the WDWFanZone. I really wanted the post to be good as there are so many great writers on the blog and I owe Lisa and Stuart alot for asking me to write for their team. Anyway its up there now so go check out <a href="http://www.wdwfanzone.com/">http://www.wdwfanzone.com/</a> for my post on Mickey's ToonTown Fair. <br />
<br />
Today I want to share a story with you. The story shows how the imagineers can make a story for anything. Blizzard Beach is a great park, to have snow in Florida is a crazy thing but it also has to be explained why there is snow. <br />
<br />
Lets take a look at how the legend of Blizzard Beach began.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-unq46qfjJvM/TX4NLzMGItI/AAAAAAAAALE/QnQv1L6cQm8/s1600/family-vacations-blizzard-beach-and-typhoon-lagoon-water-parks-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="260" q6="true" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-unq46qfjJvM/TX4NLzMGItI/AAAAAAAAALE/QnQv1L6cQm8/s320/family-vacations-blizzard-beach-and-typhoon-lagoon-water-parks-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
As legend has it, Blizzard Beach was created by a freak winter storm which dropped snow over the western side of Walt Disney World property and Florida's first snow-ski resort was planned immediately. <br />
<br />
<br />
However, the plan was short-lived. Temperatures soared and the ice and snow rapidly began to melt. Dismayed ski-resort operators, ready to close, spotted a playful alligator sliding down the "liquid ice" slopes and realized the melting snow created the tallest, fastest and most exhilarating water-filled ski and toboggan runs in the world. As a result, the ski resort/water adventure park was born. <br />
<br />
It was a natural. Former ski slalom courses and bobsled and sledding runs became downhill water slides. The chair lift could still carry swimmers to the top of the slides. The ski jump became the nation's tallest and fastest water slide. The melting snow revealed welcoming beaches, a pre-teen play area and many other activities. <br />
<br />
The Gator is now the mascot for the park. This is cool as this park is the only one with a different character running the show than Mickey Mouse. The park is a great place and is polar opposite (no pun intended) to Typhoon Lagoon. Where else in Florida can you take a ski lift up to the slopes?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6852788167081037440.post-23180878457533681812011-02-14T13:06:00.001+00:002011-02-14T13:11:11.141+00:00up on the roofWhats up everyone! I've been busy working on my first blog for WDW Fan Zone which has now been published! go check it out <a href="http://www.wdwfanzone.com/">http://www.wdwfanzone.com/</a> I've also been on holiday just to get away for a week.<br />
But i'm back and this week we have a great detail and a great example of character design. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3gmo3HMC6vc/TVkppbQu4zI/AAAAAAAAALA/m8tVxEWKw9g/s1600/mcwdw_restaurantosaurus2007ah.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="328" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3gmo3HMC6vc/TVkppbQu4zI/AAAAAAAAALA/m8tVxEWKw9g/s400/mcwdw_restaurantosaurus2007ah.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Lets head over to Dinoland U.S.A at Disney's Animal Kingdom and look at Restaurantasaurus<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Now on the roof of Restaurantasaurus lies a great detail and is relevent to the story of Dinoland U.S.A. This can easily be missed or not understood. <br />
<br />
The story is The Dinoland Institute are doing projects on dinousaurs in the town but some cheeky grad students have decided to have a bit of fun inbetween digs . <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">They have made a nice chillout place ontop of the restaurant and have even come up with a game to play when they get bored. </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CZTvE3J18_E/TVkkX_iQu1I/AAAAAAAAAK0/7lSJLa-8kSE/s1600/Lawn_Chair_Archery_01_%252804-09%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CZTvE3J18_E/TVkkX_iQu1I/AAAAAAAAAK0/7lSJLa-8kSE/s320/Lawn_Chair_Archery_01_%252804-09%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WIONqXh3zcg/TVkpl38P_jI/AAAAAAAAAK8/o8laB6B3ncQ/s1600/mcdino_restaurantosaurus22007ah.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WIONqXh3zcg/TVkpl38P_jI/AAAAAAAAAK8/o8laB6B3ncQ/s400/mcdino_restaurantosaurus22007ah.jpg" width="378" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
Notice the Mcdonalds packaging on the cooler where it looks like they have gotten a bit peckish and headed to Petrifries. I dont know if this is still ontop of the roof now that Mcdonalds is out of the parks.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-v0Y4abuntfo/TVkkV8kWmJI/AAAAAAAAAKw/0UJb3ziwuJ8/s1600/IMG_4878.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-v0Y4abuntfo/TVkkV8kWmJI/AAAAAAAAAKw/0UJb3ziwuJ8/s400/IMG_4878.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div align="left" class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">This is the game they have came up with. The adjacent watertower is a perfect target to fire plungers into. How do they get the plungers back? They have made a rig with a bucket on from the restaurant to the water tower so they don't have to use any effort to get them back.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">Thats it for today! Yet another great detail from Disney! they could easily have not put anything there, but thats not how the imagineers roll! everything has a story! </div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6852788167081037440.post-27994823257420489272011-01-17T11:55:00.000+00:002011-01-17T11:55:00.653+00:00Step into the zone!Hey everyone!<br />
<br />
This week is going to be a different type of post! I am going to tell you some exciting news that's coming to the Disney community TODAY!<br />
<br />
A while ago now Stuart Sternberg (DisneyGeekDad on twitter) contacted me and asked if I wanted to be a writer for an upcoming project him and Lisa Battista (DisneyExplorer on twitter). I would be crazy to turn this opportunity down, so i accepted and am pleased to announce that today is the launch of WDW Fan Zone! <br />
<br />
WDW Fan Zone is a source of information for 1st time Disney vacationers and Disney fanatics alike. There are 25 columnists and that will surely grow. The columnists write about their Disney knowledge and experiences over a variety of topics. There will definitely be something for everybody! So if you are a Disney geek, fan or wanting to find out why we love Disney then head over to <a href="http://www.wdwfanzone.com/">http://www.wdwfanzone.com/</a><br />
<br />
I am really excited to be a part of this and am going to put my all into it, as there are many great writers on the site, and to be among them is an honour!<br />
<br />
So there's only one more question.......<br />
<br />
Are you ready to step into the zone??Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6852788167081037440.post-42229348468144847582011-01-10T12:57:00.000+00:002011-01-10T12:57:35.871+00:00Royal SteedThis week I wanted to show you a great detail at one of the most iconic attractions at Disney World.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TSsAAaF62uI/AAAAAAAAAKU/oD4MgyDiiv0/s1600/wdw-carousel-247x300.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TSsAAaF62uI/AAAAAAAAAKU/oD4MgyDiiv0/s1600/wdw-carousel-247x300.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It's changed name, but it's stayed the same and is a great attraction for kids and even adults.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Now the detail that I want to show you is a great bit of information. When I found this out and went on the ride next, I made sure to find it.<br />
I know what your saying "there's loads of horses, they are all the same". But no they are not, as there is one very special horse on the Carousel. If you have children you have to find this horse and let them ride it, they will think its so cool.<br />
<br />
The horse in question is Cinderella's horse. And how to find it is the horse has a gold ribbon around it's tail. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TSsADvFKYYI/AAAAAAAAAKY/U5H15sd6ang/s1600/_wsb_134x227_Cinderella%252BCarousel%252BHorse.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TSsADvFKYYI/AAAAAAAAAKY/U5H15sd6ang/s320/_wsb_134x227_Cinderella%252BCarousel%252BHorse.jpg" width="188" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left">So when you go next let your child ride the princesses steed, of you can! (even adults can pretend right.)</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6852788167081037440.post-33374134381428662632011-01-04T13:18:00.000+00:002011-01-04T13:18:11.225+00:00Crates, Crates, CratesHappy New Year all! <br />
<br />
It's been a busy few weeks with Christmas and New Year but lets get back into normality with some Disney.<br />
<br />
Lets have a look at the crates at Min and Bills Dockside Diner at Hollywood Studios!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TSMaGXfcpdI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/cE2P_UrUK2o/s1600/Min%252520and%252520Bill%25252009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TSMaGXfcpdI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/cE2P_UrUK2o/s400/Min%252520and%252520Bill%25252009.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a name='more'></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>If you are over by Min and Bill's Dockside Diner enjoying a nice snack or looking around, make sure you check out the crates that are to be put on the ship to deliver to various places. <br />
<br />
For film buffs these addresses on the crates are from famous movies.<br />

WOW its been a crazy couple of weeks. work has been non stop and this is the last day off I get before Christmas day. That's what I get for being in retail.<br />
<br />
Anyway lets talk some Disney!<br />
<br />
This week it marks the 12 days of Christmas, which means everyone will be putting up their decorations and trees. One of the most important features of Christmas for me is the lights! The wonderful flashing, colourful lights can change your mood in an instant. You are rarely sad when gazing upon Christmas lights and sometimes astounded especially if you are at the Hollywood Studios and looking at The Osbourne Family lights! <br />
<br />
So lets look at the history of one of the greatest spectacles at Disney World.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TQYNxV4ZHwI/AAAAAAAAAJk/PAa73OIZTjY/s1600/osborne-christmas-light-picture-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TQYNxV4ZHwI/AAAAAAAAAJk/PAa73OIZTjY/s400/osborne-christmas-light-picture-001.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><a name='more'></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Lets start where it all began:<br />
<br />
Jennings Osborne, along with his wife Mitzi, founded a medical research facility in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1968. The business' success allowed him and his wife to eventually purchase a large estate outside of town in 1976. In 1980 the Osborne's welcomed little Breezy into the world.<br />
<br />
<br />
In 1986, Breezy made a very simple request of her parents for Christmas ... to decorate their home in lights. Jennings gladly complied, stringing 1000 lights around their home. <br />
"Each year after that, it got bigger and bigger," Osborne would later recall. So big, in fact, that Osborne purchased the two properties adjacent to his own and expanded the display into them.<br />
<br />
By 1993, the display had over three million lights. <br />
Some of the more prominent features included:<br />
An illuminated globe, with Little Rock and Bethlehem marked, mounted in the back yard; <br />
two rotating carousels of lights, placed on each end of the estate's circular driveway; <br />
a 70-foot-tall Christmas tree of lights with 80,000 lights in three colored layers, mounted atop the home's kitchen; and <br />
a canopy of 30,000 red lights over a section of the driveway.<br />
The lights were a wildly popular attraction, both in Arkansas and around the world, as news crews often visited to film the display.<br />
<br />
The display was, however, not as popular with the Osborne's neighbors. They claimed that the display created massive traffic jams near their homes, and filed suit in 1994 to have the display turned off. Ultimately, Osborne agreed to several conditions on the display, such as a set schedule for when the lights would be turned on and hiring off-duty police officers to help the neighbors enter and exit their properties.<br />
<br />
<br />
Much as generosity spurred the creation of the display, another act of generosity may have spelled its doom in Arkansas. After a family arrived just after the display had been turned off for the night, Jennings agreed to switch the lights on for them, in violation of the court order and netting him a $10,000 fine. The neighbors returned to court, which sided with them and ordered the display turned off permanently. Osborne appealed to both the Arkansas Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court, where Justice Clarence Thomas refused to hear the case.<br />
<br />
The story of the light displays court case brought national attention, including offers from several cities to host the display. Walt Disney World project director John Phelan contacted Osborne's attorney about moving the display to the Orlando resort, and eventually discussed the potential move with Osborne himself.<br />
<br />
<br />
Osborne was intrigued by the offer, but initially understood that Disney wanted to put the display on another residential street in Orlando. What Phelan actually offered was to install the display on "Residential Street," a back lot section at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park (then known by its original name, the Disney-MGM Studios). Being a fan of the resort himself, and realizing where the display would go, Osborne accepted Disney's offer. In 1995, the display was set up on Residential Street as "The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights," becoming an immediate success.<br />
<br />
Residential Street was visited using the back lot tour's tram vehicles. When the light display was in place, however, the tram tours would stop before sunset, allowing guests to walk amongst the displays. Initially the display was purely the original lights from the Osborne estate, but in subsequent years the display was augmented to its current size of over five million lights. The displays Disney caretakers have also added a number of hidden Mickeys into the lights. The 2007 edition of the display features over 40 of the icons.<br />
<br />
<br />
The display is made up of over 10 miles (16 kilometers) of rope lighting connected by another 30 miles (48 kilometers) of extension cords. The extension cords and lights are held together using two million ties. It takes 20,000 man-hours to install the display each holiday season, starting in September. The lights are turned on at dusk each night, starting in mid-November and running into the first week of January, and require 800,000 watts of electricity.<br />
<br />
In 2004, the park began construction on a new arena for its upcoming Lights! Motors! Action! Extreme Stunt Show, set to open in 2005. Part of the construction included the demolition of Residential Street, thus necessitating another move of the display. The solution was to move it to another part of the park, the New York Street set (now known as the Streets of America). As part of the move, the Studios added an artificial snow effect to the display, made up of 33 snow machines that use 100 gallons of fluid per evening.<br />
In 2005, Sylvania became the presenting sponsor of the lights, as part of parent company Siemens' long-term sponsorship deal with the Walt Disney Company's theme parks, which also included the Spaceship Earth and IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth attractions at Epcot.<br />
For the 2006 edition, the park added over 1500 dimmer relay circuits and control switches to the display to enable the lights to switch on and off electronically. The switches were choreographed to a musical score, and the display was given its current name. In this variation, a musical selection is played, during which the lights "dance" to the music. After each performance, the lights remain steady for about ten minutes before "dancing" again to another selection; other holiday selections play during the intermissions. The dancing segments cycle roughly every 30-40 minutes.<br />
<br />

These lights are amazing to see in person and are breathtaking every time i see them. If theres one reason to go to the World at Christmas time then this would be it.<br />
<br />
That's it for this weeks history lesson! <br />
<br />
Until next week (hopefully) Look closer!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6852788167081037440.post-59068627516753162182010-11-29T15:44:00.001+00:002010-11-29T15:46:20.818+00:00Is Randy Newman Playing?<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This weeks post is only going to be a quick one as I have been swamped with work. At work this week we have had Toy Story 3 playing everyday and it had me thinking about a great detail at Disney's Hollywood Studios that most people might not notice.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So lets head over to Pixar Place and find out what I'm talking about.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TPPEcmBWNlI/AAAAAAAAAJc/EAhwoZUfFAI/s1600/untitled.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ox="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TPPEcmBWNlI/AAAAAAAAAJc/EAhwoZUfFAI/s320/untitled.bmp" width="320" /></a></div><div align="left"></div><a name='more'></a>So I know its hard to stop and look around Pixar place almost 90% of the day but when you get 5 minutes, have a look around. I will do a more detailed look at the history of Pixar Place soon. This detail gives meaning to the phrase "It pays to look up". <br />
<br />
Above the Camera Department you will see a scrabble board being lowered by the green army men, and it looks like someone has already been playing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TPPInk-Xc4I/AAAAAAAAAJg/qKzEaGZsa4o/s1600/Pixar_Place_19.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TPPInk-Xc4I/AAAAAAAAAJg/qKzEaGZsa4o/s400/Pixar_Place_19.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Along with "Meet the toys" someone has put down the Legendary song from Toy Story for their turn. <br />
Another amazing little detail that like i said, most people would not notice when rushing through there to get their Fastpass or ride the ride.<br />
<br />
That's all for this week, I promise I will get into more detailed things soon so stay right with me! <br />

<br />
So join me as we venture into Asia and take a look at the Kali River Rapids Fastpass building.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TOFdehUFrgI/AAAAAAAAAJA/gPFYTYugatI/s1600/ak_krr2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" px="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TOFdehUFrgI/AAAAAAAAAJA/gPFYTYugatI/s1600/ak_krr2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
So we all know what Kali River Rapids is right?! but have you ever wondered what the Fastpass building is there for? Lets find out!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TOFeBT0izGI/AAAAAAAAAJM/wijJ9xSrP2U/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" px="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TOFeBT0izGI/AAAAAAAAAJM/wijJ9xSrP2U/s400/001.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
As the design for Kali River Rapids Fastpass structure was developed , the Imagineers created a story for the place to have an identity for the individual who would "live" in this loft. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TOFdsMR9YlI/AAAAAAAAAJI/10eF3mIT4W4/s1600/river_rapids_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" px="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TOFdsMR9YlI/AAAAAAAAAJI/10eF3mIT4W4/s400/river_rapids_3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> (concept art by Alex Wright.)<br />
<br />
The building is supposed to be located as the last outpost one encounters before setting out on a trek. The Fastpass machines are dressed to serve as podiums where one might stop to have their paper's reviewed and stamped. <br />
<br />
The person who mans this station is envisioned as an entrepreneurial sort who has devised every which way he can think of to make money from people heading out on excursions. Among the items we find are a bicycle repair stand, a supply of any kind of gear you could need and provisions of all sorts for sale to keep you well stocked on your journey.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TOFeP16EfNI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/gfE7EwBizrk/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" px="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TOFeP16EfNI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/gfE7EwBizrk/s400/002.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />

That's it for this week, another great detail and story of the Disney parks.<br />

I am back from my 2 week vactation at WDW and have lots of details to share with you! <br />
Sorry for not keeping in touch on Twitter, this is due to my iphone being european and having massive roaming charges when in the US! <br />
<br />
But lets get back to it and have a look at an amazing detail at Hollywood and Vine at Disney's Hollywood Studios! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TMV0zoJx0vI/AAAAAAAAAIs/fF2z7yLFQ3A/s1600/hollyvine_s.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" nx="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TMV0zoJx0vI/AAAAAAAAAIs/fF2z7yLFQ3A/s400/hollyvine_s.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><a name='more'></a><br />
If you are not aware of Hollywood and Vine, it is a buffet restaurant situated near Echo Lake at Disneys Hollywood Studios. The detail I want to share with you is in the windows above the restaurant.<br />
<br />
If you look up when you are out the front of the restaurant then you will notice two windows. These windows represent the 1988 feature film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?". <br />
<br />
The name on the first window is in reference to the lead character in the movie who is investigating a murder involving Roger Rabbit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TMV33hinCXI/AAAAAAAAAIw/nA-juhkDr4M/s1600/More%2520Studio%2520Details%252008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="289" nx="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TMV33hinCXI/AAAAAAAAAIw/nA-juhkDr4M/s320/More%2520Studio%2520Details%252008.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: left;">The second window is in reference to a scene in the movie when Roger drinks some whisky and goes bonkers and ends up jumping through the window.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TMV35owZMiI/AAAAAAAAAI0/-0BRpwdfQ3M/s1600/More%2520Studio%2520Details%252009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" nx="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TMV35owZMiI/AAAAAAAAAI0/-0BRpwdfQ3M/s1600/More%2520Studio%2520Details%252009.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">So there you have it. Another great detail from Disney! It pays to look up sometimes.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">If you have a chance go point this out to the people you are with as it gets a great reaction.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

Hope everyone had a good weekend! This week will be the last post in a few weeks as I am heading out to the world for 2 weeks! But have no fear as you can follow my journey around WDW on Twitter: @detailsofdisney.<br />
<br />
With that out of the way lets have a look at this weeks detail as we head to the Germany pavilion at Epcot.<br />

</div>We all know that every pavilion in the World showcase has amazing details. And eventually I will cover all of them for you. This week I want to show you a great example of Disney Imagineering staying true to their details, even if no-one notices them.<br />
<br />
As you head into the Germany pavilion you immediately notice the big statue that is in the middle of the courtyard, but does anyone know the reason for this being here? Let me tell you.<br />
<br />
The statue is of St. George slaying a dragon.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TKCHJHPsLvI/AAAAAAAAAIk/5ipPZT_xQ2E/s1600/2937882591_9eb3ea8820.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" px="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TKCHJHPsLvI/AAAAAAAAAIk/5ipPZT_xQ2E/s400/2937882591_9eb3ea8820.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
St. George is the patron saint of soldiers. German legends say that St. George killed a dragon to which a king's daughter was being sacrificed. He Slayed the dragon with his magical sword "Ascalon".<br />
<br />
Almost all German villages have a statue of St. George as a symbol of protection. The Germany pavilion version is modeled on the one in Rothenburg. <br />
<br />
See the similarities in the two statues.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TKCIw_ENEgI/AAAAAAAAAIo/WUb8Rs0Jyz4/s1600/2441683552_0cfe4104ff.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" px="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TKCIw_ENEgI/AAAAAAAAAIo/WUb8Rs0Jyz4/s400/2441683552_0cfe4104ff.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />

Have I gone insane? Am I hungry?<br />
<br />
Well the answer is no, as this weeks blog is about a great bit of detail that we find in Disney's Animal Kingdom. <br />
<br />
So get ready to say "Jambo" as we travel to Africa!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TJdPF2vvDWI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/KH2gZFF1P0s/s1600/Animal-Kingdom-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="272" qx="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TJdPF2vvDWI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/KH2gZFF1P0s/s320/Animal-Kingdom-4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
At the end of Mombasa Marketplace you'll find a rather curious looking plant with long , hanging fruit in the shape of a sausage. Coincidentally enough, it's called a Sausage tree that was brought in by landscape designers and required special care from the park horticulture team to produce it's fruit without the bats that pollinate them in Africa.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TJdQmY-yDqI/AAAAAAAAAIY/RrZOWtxVCi8/s1600/2093823396_9d9fc150ea.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="287" qx="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TJdQmY-yDqI/AAAAAAAAAIY/RrZOWtxVCi8/s400/2093823396_9d9fc150ea.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here are some facts about the real trees that are grown in South Africa:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The Sausage tree is also known as Kigelia Africana, it is a tropical species which occurs in the eastern part of South Africa, stretching from Natal to the Northern Province, Swaziland, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and further northwards as far as Tanzania. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The sausage-shaped fruit grows up to 50 centimeters in length and 10 centimeters in diameter. It is grey-green to pale brown in colour, hard and exceptionally heavy. The fruit hangs from a remarkably long stalk. The fruits fall from the trees in March/April of the following year. They lie undamaged on the ground for many months. They are definitely inedible and are reported to be poisonous, especially when still green.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Some African tribes regard the sausage tree as holy. Important meetings are held under the shade of the Sausage Tree and objects cut from the timber are worshipped.</div><br />
<br />
<br />
Although the fruit is thought to be poisonous, it is still baked and added to beer brews to aid fermentation. In pulverized form, it is used to treat abscesses. A paste is made from the fruit and used to treat venereal diseases and rheumatism. (nice)<br />
<br />
<br />
Well I hope you have enjoyed this weeks blog post! make sure to take the time and look at this amazing tree in Animal Kingdom. <br />
<br />

This week I want to talk about an icon at Downtown Disney,<br />
and that icon is The "Empress Lilly" AKA Fulton's Crab House.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TI4Sxn1rTiI/AAAAAAAAAHw/EctAbk2sGvg/s1600/MP31.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TI4Sxn1rTiI/AAAAAAAAAHw/EctAbk2sGvg/s400/MP31.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>So come on in and let's look at the history of the Empress Lilly Riverboat!<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
The Empress Lilly was the name of the riverboat at the once named Lake Buena Vista shopping district now Downtown Disney. The boat was built in 1976 and was official opened on May 1 1977.<br />
<br />
Lilly is a replica of a paddle steamer riverboat, and is 220 feet long by 62 foot wide. The name of the boat comes from Walt Disney's widow Lillian.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TI4U3QNj30I/AAAAAAAAAH4/mjWcNLdrfqY/s1600/lily+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="449" ox="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TI4U3QNj30I/AAAAAAAAAH4/mjWcNLdrfqY/s640/lily+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Notable was the decorative paddle wheel at the back of the ship that turned and churned up the water, although the boat never moved an inch. <br />
<br />
The Lilly was home to one of WDW’s first character breakfasts, aptly titled the “Disney Character Breakfast.”<br />
<br />
The Baton Rouge Lounge was located forward on the main deck, and had a full bar and entertainment provided by the Riverboat Rascals.<br />
<br />
The restaurants were:<br />
The Steerman’s Quarters – a steakhouse located in the aft section of the Main Deck.<br />
The Fisherman’s Deck – a seafood restaurant located on the Promenade Deck, forward.<br />
The Empress Room – a formal dining room located aft on the Promenade Deck. Richly decorated and always busy, this restaurant required reservations and was lavishly decorated in gold.<br />
<br />
On April 22, 1995, the Empress Lilly closed her doors, and had the interior gutted in preparation for a new dining experience. The smokestacks and paddle wheel were removed from the exterior, and on March 10, 1996, it reopened as Fulton’s Crab House.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TI4XUy7__cI/AAAAAAAAAII/YgUFgYvzQb4/s1600/Fultons_L.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TI4XUy7__cI/AAAAAAAAAII/YgUFgYvzQb4/s400/Fultons_L.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>Well That's it for this week and i hope you have enjoyed this look back at the history of the Empress Lilly Riverboat.<br />

WestFor this weeks blog post someone asked me what is the difference between Future World East and Future World West at Epcot. I thought this would be an interesting thing to write about as not many people would notice. <br />
<br />
So Let's take a look at Future World at Epcot!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS5ykwUuVI/AAAAAAAAAHA/xiWLMxpVE6s/s1600/2819652745_239969462b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" ox="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS5ykwUuVI/AAAAAAAAAHA/xiWLMxpVE6s/s400/2819652745_239969462b.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a name='more'></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Alot of us know what attractions are in Future world and for most of us as we get through the gates, we make a run for Soarin to get in line before it extends to hour long waits all day. <br />
But if you get time, have a nice stroll from East to West or vice versa, and make sure you take a look at the themeing in these areas. <br />
<br />
Lets Take a look.<br />
<br />
<u><strong>Future World East:</strong></u><br />
<br />
This is home to Test Track, Universe Of Energy and Mission: Space and deals generally with the more technical aspects of modern science. Now notice the paths, These are all angled and structured with hard corners and sculpted plantings. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS-OiZzzRI/AAAAAAAAAHI/cDOQWFe-vDs/s1600/East.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" ox="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS-OiZzzRI/AAAAAAAAAHI/cDOQWFe-vDs/s400/East.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS-xEWQS-I/AAAAAAAAAHQ/JwnE2CwLsPU/s1600/east2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS-xEWQS-I/AAAAAAAAAHQ/JwnE2CwLsPU/s400/east2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<strong><u>Future World West:</u></strong><br />
<br />
The West side where we find The Living Seas, The Land and the Imagination pavillion, covers topics more natural and free form. This leads to curvier and rounder edges and lots of water.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS_fISt5PI/AAAAAAAAAHY/FyPcIaUk-VI/s1600/west.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" ox="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS_fISt5PI/AAAAAAAAAHY/FyPcIaUk-VI/s400/west.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS_kwdUyxI/AAAAAAAAAHg/jF-qSfO_RT4/s1600/west2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS_kwdUyxI/AAAAAAAAAHg/jF-qSfO_RT4/s400/west2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS_pxnn7CI/AAAAAAAAAHo/ROB8RTanBa8/s1600/west3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" ox="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TIS_pxnn7CI/AAAAAAAAAHo/ROB8RTanBa8/s400/west3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Future World East and West is also said to mimic the left and right division of the brain. <br />
<br />
East where Test Track and Mission: Space are is the <strong>logical</strong> side of the brain whereas West with The Seas, Imagination and The Land is the <strong>creative</strong> side.<br />
<br />
Well that does it for this week and I hope you have enjoyed this look at Future World!<br />
<br />
Until next week....Look Closer.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6852788167081037440.post-74714357586776847692010-08-28T18:59:00.001+01:002010-08-28T19:02:22.311+01:00That's AmoreWelcome to another week of the Details Of Disney blog! This week will only be a short one as I have been working six day weeks! Thank you work! <br />
<br />
So this week lets look at Tony's Town Square Restaurant!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THk_-UzBxNI/AAAAAAAAAGA/RHRfKCQL1YI/s1600/p267878-Orlando-Tonys_Town_Square_Restaurant.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THk_-UzBxNI/AAAAAAAAAGA/RHRfKCQL1YI/s400/p267878-Orlando-Tonys_Town_Square_Restaurant.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
We all know Tony's Town Square is a great place to eat but there is also a great detail and story behind Tony's. <br />
<br />
The facade of the restaurant is inspired by Hotel Saratoga in New York. <br />

The attraction closes in just over 2 weeks so there's still time to go see all these great details a final time before they (maybe) disappear forever.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJVXrJX7hI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/SqqTlx8G3ww/s1600/startours.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJVXrJX7hI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/SqqTlx8G3ww/s400/startours.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So let's have a look at the Star Tours queue!</div><a name='more'></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>As you enter the queue building make sure you look up straight in front of you as you can see Admiral Ackbar and other Mon Calamaris in the control room watching over R2-D2 and C-3PO working on the Starspeeder.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJdFlQo4nI/AAAAAAAAAFY/lxlh6-6YL80/s1600/3888026123_456d04471b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJdFlQo4nI/AAAAAAAAAFY/lxlh6-6YL80/s320/3888026123_456d04471b.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You then enter the next room which is the place where the droids are repairing bits of the ships. If you get time to stay in that area long enough you can listen to the droids interacting with each other and even singing as they work.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJg-j4FbgI/AAAAAAAAAFg/gH4viq1GAxo/s1600/IMG_2256.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJg-j4FbgI/AAAAAAAAAFg/gH4viq1GAxo/s320/IMG_2256.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJhT2-BXAI/AAAAAAAAAFo/ZDb9MojewB0/s1600/IMG_0409.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJhT2-BXAI/AAAAAAAAAFo/ZDb9MojewB0/s320/IMG_0409.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">There are some great trivia and details about this area, lets have a look.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The G2 repair droids in the queue line are actually the skeletons of two goose animatronics from America Sings. They were removed from the show for this attraction during the last 2 years of its run. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">On one of the workbenches you can see the bottom half of C-3PO</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJh_TqyHoI/AAAAAAAAAFw/pWQGCKIunic/s1600/IMG_0408.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJh_TqyHoI/AAAAAAAAAFw/pWQGCKIunic/s320/IMG_0408.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">When you get to the overhead conveyor belt you can see a model of Kermit the Frog made out of spare parts. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJjqZl9WZI/AAAAAAAAAF4/7yFVauijENw/s1600/3796057555_e90764c5f4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/THJjqZl9WZI/AAAAAAAAAF4/7yFVauijENw/s320/3796057555_e90764c5f4.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
A number of inside jokes can be heard over the public address system in the rides queue and I'm sure you have all heard them but lets go over them one more time.<br />
<br />
The announcer calls out for an illegally parked speeder license number "THX-1138", which is the name of the first studio film made by George Lucas.<br />
<br />
A "Mr. Egroeg Sacul" is paged by the announcer. The name is "George Lucas" spelled backwards.<br />
<br />
A voice says there is a message for "Mr. Tom Morrow," who was a character in Disney World's now-defunct Flight to the Moon attraction and later became a separate character for Innoventions at Epcot in 1998.<br />
<br />
Well That's it for this week, make sure you go check out Star Tours before it closes for the rehab.<br />
<br />
And remember....Use the force!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6852788167081037440.post-23655933517577663412010-08-16T14:19:00.000+01:002010-08-16T14:19:02.715+01:00I've got a bad feeling about this.Welcome aboard this weeks Details of Disney blog post! <br />
This weekend hosts the "Last Tour To Endor" at Star Tours in Hollywood Studios.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TGk01hxsUKI/AAAAAAAAAE4/kS9CSM6Y-vY/s1600/MGM_-_Star_Tours.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TGk01hxsUKI/AAAAAAAAAE4/kS9CSM6Y-vY/s320/MGM_-_Star_Tours.jpg" /></a></div>So lets get in our Starspeeder 3000 and blast off to a galaxy far far away as we look at a little detail in Star Tours!<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
This September Star Tours is going into a major refurbishment to make way for Star Tours 2 3D! <br />
We do not know what will change in the ride and the queue so over the next few weeks I will share some great details on Star Tours.<br />
<br />
For our first detail we will look at out friendly pilot Rex. Rex is our inexperienced pilot on this journey (what would be the fun in a straightforward trip). He is voiced by Paul “Pee-Wee Herman” Ruebens which may explain why some people find Rex annoying. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>As the screen comes down and we finally see Rex there is a great little detail that may explain why the trip goes wrong. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TGk5EZNU-gI/AAAAAAAAAFI/DTam1T42Rac/s1600/rex.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" ox="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TGk5EZNU-gI/AAAAAAAAAFI/DTam1T42Rac/s400/rex.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">On Rex's body there is a tab that reads "Remove Before Flight" which clearly has not been removed. Who knows what the flight would be like if the tab had been pulled out. Luckily it didn't get pulled out and we have a wild ride through space, at least Rex brings us back safely..... Just.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">That's all for this week and I hope you enjoyed this detail. Next week we will continue on with the Star Tours theme.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">May the force be with you to Look Closer</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TF_2MGuFvXI/AAAAAAAAAEg/FOL0VzZ7uQU/s1600/pop02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bx="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TF_2MGuFvXI/AAAAAAAAAEg/FOL0VzZ7uQU/s320/pop02.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">It's not just the theme parks that have amazing detail, the resorts do to. Let's have a look at a great little detail that not many people would know about.</div><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TF_3Yr-2C5I/AAAAAAAAAEo/3lytrblWnog/s1600/Pop_Century_2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bx="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TF_3Yr-2C5I/AAAAAAAAAEo/3lytrblWnog/s320/Pop_Century_2.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The big wheel at pop century is one of the big icon structures of the 70's buildings. It's four storeys tall, but what would be the weight of a rider of the big wheel you may ask???</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Well if you go on the second or third floor behind the big wheel you can look down onto the frame of the big wheel and see an amazing detail. This is a very funny detail and one that you can share with your family.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TF_5vNGFniI/AAAAAAAAAEw/MHDHOxLup5g/s1600/big+wheel+1" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bx="true" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TF_5vNGFniI/AAAAAAAAAEw/MHDHOxLup5g/s400/big+wheel+1" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The recommended child weight is 877 LBS!! That's one big kid! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once again another great detail by the imagineers, overlooked by many.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">That's all for this week, so next time you go to Pop Century make sure you check this out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Until next week....Look Closer.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6852788167081037440.post-4299064828202176182010-08-01T22:58:00.001+01:002010-08-01T23:01:07.097+01:00The Green ScreenThis week on the Details Of Disney blog we are going <span style="color: lime;">GREEN, </span><span style="color: black;">and visiting our bug friends.</span><br />
That's right we are going to see what the bugs get up to in their spare time and by the looks of it they enjoy a bit of acting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TFXfhrbvGaI/AAAAAAAAADA/afcyMY7--TQ/s1600/bugsign.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bx="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TFXfhrbvGaI/AAAAAAAAADA/afcyMY7--TQ/s320/bugsign.jpg" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">So lets have a look at the details of the "It's Tough To Be A Bug" posters!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
As you get into the pre-show area for Tough To Be A Bug make sure you look for the great details that are the posters that the bugs have performed for the Tree Of Life Repertory Theatre.<br />
There are some great play on words done by Imagineering here, they have made it look like you are coming underground into the bugs world and seeing what they get up to by using your "Bug Eyes".<br />
<br />
So here are the posters for your enjoyment! The posters also have facts about the bugs so be sure to have a read.<br />

Neither can I! July 22nd 1994 saw the grand opening of the Tower and has been a fan favourite ever since, including me. <br />

</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">The sign reads </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">"KEEP OUT! the management of this hotel assumes no responsibility for your safety. </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">For those that don't know the story here it is: </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><strong>On the night of October 13th, 1939 a freakish thunder and lightning storm decended on the Hollywood hills while the elite of the film community found sanctuary in the Hollywood Tower Hotel's elegant lobby. Among those checking in that night were a handsome young couple accompanied by an older, over-worked bellman and a child actress in blond curls and frilly dress with her stern governess. They were all last seen heading for the elevator, they stepped in, the doors closed and seconds later the elevator, its passengers and several sections of the upper stories of the hotel vanished.</strong></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">As you can see the sign is a great little detail for those that care enough to look for it and enhances the story.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">That does it for another week! And then it came to me! As I am from the United Kingdom and my favourite park is Epcot, why not start at the United Kingdom pavilion at Epcot. Specifically The Rose And Crown Pub! </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOCeG3G1fI/AAAAAAAAAA8/vRV8gcr24BE/s1600/ROSECROWN_1_998.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" hw="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOCeG3G1fI/AAAAAAAAAA8/vRV8gcr24BE/s400/ROSECROWN_1_998.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div align="left" class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">Now this wonderful pub has many details and bits of history that I will share with you. </div><a name='more'></a><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">First lets start off with the style of the pub. Disney has based their pub on <strong>four</strong> different styles of British pubs. They are: </div><ul><li><br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><strong>The city</strong> or "street" pub dating back from the 1890's Victorian city center features brick and wood paneling on the facade and gives the mahogany bar, the etched glass and molded plaster ceiling.</div></li>
<li><br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><strong>Dickenson pub</strong>, after the Cheshire Cheese pub in London offers a brick walled flagstone terrace with covered tables, slate roof and half timbered Elizabethan styled exterior.</div></li>
<li><br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><strong>Waterfront</strong> or "River" pub, on the canal lock- a facade with a modest stone building, clay tiled roof and decorative doorways, stone terrace with an iron fence lining the homey village inn-styled dining room.</div></li>
<li><br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><strong>Country, </strong>from the suburbs of the 17th and 18th centuries- a slate roof and plaster exterior with stone quoined corners.</div></li>
</ul><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"> Now lets look at the sign and meaning of the Rose and Crown pub.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOIz-lh5EI/AAAAAAAAABE/TqyXeOHk-f4/s1600/Rose+And+Crown+Sign.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hw="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOIz-lh5EI/AAAAAAAAABE/TqyXeOHk-f4/s320/Rose+And+Crown+Sign.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">In the UK the Rose and Crown is the 12th most popular pub name with 408 known pubs. The official meaning of the Rose and Crown is as follows.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">King Edward III used a golden rose as a personal badge, and two of his sons adapted it by changing the colour: John of Gaunt, 1st Duke of Lancaster, used a red rose, and Edmund of Langley, 1st Duke of York, used a white rose. The dynastic conflicts between their descendants are collectively called the Wars of the Roses. In 1485 Henry Tudor, a descendant of Lancaster, defeated Richard III of the York dynasty and married Richard's niece Elizabeth of York. Since then the combined red-and-white Tudor rose, often crowned, has been a symbol of the monarchy of England and demonstrates loyalty to the monarchy.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">Disney have obviously done their research on the design of the sign, here is a picture of a Rose and Crown pub here in the UK. You can see that the designs are very similar. </div><div align="left" class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOLWU4B6gI/AAAAAAAAABM/dUhZowIpBqA/s1600/rose-and-crown-england+sign.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hw="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOLWU4B6gI/AAAAAAAAABM/dUhZowIpBqA/s320/rose-and-crown-england+sign.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">Onto the inside. </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"> <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOMH-7nFTI/AAAAAAAAABU/hjoam2weawE/s1600/dining_table_resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hw="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOMH-7nFTI/AAAAAAAAABU/hjoam2weawE/s320/dining_table_resize.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">The inside is very similar to a pub you would find in the UK, old fashioned carpet, dark furniture, tankards and trinkets everywhere. They even have a dartboard on display. Also in the pub you will see this displayed </div><div class="" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEONJxlAN9I/AAAAAAAAABc/QXjOxIC09q4/s1600/Leisure+With+Dignity.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hw="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEONJxlAN9I/AAAAAAAAABc/QXjOxIC09q4/s320/Leisure+With+Dignity.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">This is the Rose and Crowns Latin motto it says ‘Otium Cum Dignitate’ and means "Leisure With Dignity". Another great little detail that not many guests would get.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">As most of you already know the Rose and Crown is a great place to watch Illuminations but here is another great treasure that is not available on any times guide. </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"> <a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOObKzkX_I/AAAAAAAAABk/_CtGXi3Ag14/s1600/carl-rose-and-crown.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hw="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOObKzkX_I/AAAAAAAAABk/_CtGXi3Ag14/s320/carl-rose-and-crown.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">This is Carl, the experienced barman of the Rose and Crown and if you talk to him and ask him nicely he will show you something that will astound and amaze you. He will balance an empty glass or two on top of a DIME! And sometimes if your lucky he will balance a pint of Guinness on one! Don't believe me?? Here's a picture. </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOPaKV9stI/AAAAAAAAABs/wgGEVkPAbkk/s1600/the-dancing-glasses.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hw="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xBZUEouP-7g/TEOPaKV9stI/AAAAAAAAABs/wgGEVkPAbkk/s320/the-dancing-glasses.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">This shows you that if you get talking to the cast members they might give you and your family a magical memory.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">Well that concludes our Rose and Crown trip. I hope you enjoyed the Details and History.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">And remember Look Closer.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
